After 45 years in the restaurant business (with 25 years of operating Wayne’s Drive-In), Steve Michalica and Mary Champeny retired in 2023. They re-entered the food industry in late 2024 by launching a food trailer with a purpose. The Mel’s on the Move trailer is dedicated exclusively to support Mel’s Charities

Foregoing any personal compensation, they purchased the trailer and set up Mel’s on the Move, Inc. as 501(c)(3) nonprofit. With generous sponsors, and help from family members and friends, their vision is now a reality.
